Marilyn Manson

Brian Hugh Warner (born January 5, 1969), better known by his stage name Marilyn Manson, is an American musician, artist and former music journalist known for his controversial stage persona and image as the lead singer of the eponymous band, Marilyn Manson. His stage name was formed from juxtaposing the names of two 1960s American cultural icons, namely, actress Marilyn Monroe and convicted multiple murder mastermind[3] Charles Manson as a critical and, simultaneously, laudatory appraisal of America and its peculiar culture.[4][5]  He has a long legacy of being depicted in the media as a detrimental influence on young people. The seemingly outrageous styles for which he models and the controversy surrounding his lyrics have led to his very pronounced public appealaManson was born in Canton, Ohio. He is the only child of Barb (née Wyer) and Hugh Warner.[7] Manson is of German descent on his father's side, and is a fourth cousin twice removed of Conservative commentator Pat Buchanan.[7][8] In his autobiography The Long Hard Road Out of Hell he detailed his grandfather's sexual fetishes (including bestiality and sadomasochism) influence to the forming of Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids. The environment in his childhood made him vulnerable to further abuse and he was molested several times by a neighbor. The trauma put him on a path of rebellion.

As a child, he attended his mother's Episcopalian church, though his father was Catholic.[9][10] Warner attended Heritage Christian School from first grade to tenth grade. He later transferred to Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Manson graduated from high school in 1987, and became a student at Broward Community College in 1990. He was working towards a degree in journalism and gaining experience in the field by writing music articles for a South Florida lifestyle magazine, 25th Parallel. He would soon meet several of the musicians to whom his own band would later be compared, including My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult and Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails.Manson formed Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids in Florida in 1989 (the name was shortened to Marilyn Manson in 1992). While with The Spooky Kids, he was involved with Jeordie White (also known as Twiggy Ramirez) and Stephen Gregory Bier Jr. (also known as Madonna Wayne Gacy) in two side-projects: Satan on Fire, a faux-Christian metal ensemble where he played bass guitar, and drums in Mrs. Scabtree, a collaborative band formed with White and then girlfriend Jessicka  (vocalist with the band Jack Off Jill) as a way to combat contractual agreements that prohibited Marilyn Manson from playing in certain clubs. In the summer of 1993, the band drew the attention of Trent Reznor. Reznor produced their 1994 debut album, Portrait of an American Family and released it on his Nothing Records label. The band began to develop a cult following, which grew larger with the release of Smells Like Children in 1995. That EP yielded the band's first big MTV hit with "Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)," a cover of the 1983 Eurythmics hit. Antichrist Superstar (co-produced by Trent Reznor) was an even greater success

In the US alone, three of the band's albums have been awarded platinum certification, three more gold, and the band has had five releases debut in the top ten, including two number-one albums. Manson first worked as a producer with the band Jack Off Jill. He helped name the band and produce most of the band's early recordings, and also played guitar on the song "My Cat" and had the band open most of his South Florida shows.[12] Manson later wrote the liner notes to the band's album Humid Teenage Mediocrity 1992-1995, a collection of early Jack Off Jill recordings. Manson has appeared as a guest performer on DMX's album Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood[13] and on Godhead's 2000 Years of Human Error album — the only album released on his vanity label Posthuman

OK Go

OK Go is a rock band originally from Chicago, Illinois, USA, now residing in Los Angeles, California, USA. The band is composed of Damian Kulash (lead vocals and guitar), Tim Nordwind (bass guitar and vocals), Dan Konopka (drums and percussion) and Andy Ross (guitar, keyboards and vocals), who joined them in 2005, replacing Andy Duncan. They are perhaps best known for their often elaborate and quirky music videos.

The original members formed as OK Go in 1998 and released two studio albums before Duncan's departure. The band's video for "Here It Goes Again" won a Grammy Award for "Best Short-Form Music Video" in 2007.
The band's lead singer, Damian Kulash, met bassist Tim Nordwind at Interlochen Arts Camp when they were 11. Kulash was in for graphic design, Nordwind for music. The band name comes from their art teacher, saying "OK...Go!" while they were drawing. They kept in touch after camp, often exchanging mixtapes which influenced each other's musical taste and their future sound. They met the band's former guitarist and keyboardist Andy Duncan in high school, and drummer Dan Konopka in college. OK Go was formed in 1998.

The band served as the house band for the public radio program This American Life on the show's fifth anniversary tour.

Greeley Estates

The band was formed by Ryan Zimmerman, Brandon Hackenson, Dallace Smith, Jared Wallace, and Mike Coburn. The band name is derived from a sign in Colorado Ryan and Brandon saw on the way from Chicago to Phoenix. Mike Coburn left the band shortly before they started touring at the end of 2003. After a few fill-in drummers, Brian Champ soon became the main drummer for Greeley Estates. They went through a few bass players who all left Greeley Estates before they began touring the US. Jared Wallace "Outside of This" was then replaced by Josh Applebach. They released their debut album Outside of This in 2004. In 2005 Greeley Estates released the Caveat Emptor EP.

Greeley Estates was one of PureVolume’s top 10 unsigned artists with over a million plays—an accolade supported by having album sales in the top 10 on Smartpunk since October 2004. Their distribution record further secured them a position on the Smartpunk chart for "Sales of All Time". They signed to Record Collection, and they were on every date of the Vans Warped Tour in 2005. Also, Greeley Estates co-headlined the MySpace Fall Tour 2005. Other accomplishments include extensive touring, a DVD entitled The Death of Greeley Estates released in May 2005, playing on the Taste of Chaos tour and continual play on KEDJ 103.9 alternative rock radio in Phoenix. In mid 2006 Greeley Estates recorded their second full length album Far From the Lies.

On January 31, 2007, bassist Josh Applebach announced that he would leave Greeley Estates for a teaching career in Arizona. Bradley Murray (previously with Versus the Mirror) from Tucson, Arizona became their touring bassist. His first live appearance with the band was on February 3, 2007 in Safford, Arizona.

On June 3, 2007, guitarist Dallas Smith announced that he would be leaving the band in order to start up a family with his wife and expected twin daughters (he and his wife were to subsequently lose the pregnancy). He made this announcement via a Myspace bulletin and announced that his last show would be June 20, 2007 at the Clubhouse in Tempe, Arizona. After their Mexican tour with Silverstein, Brad Murray left the band for personal reasons.
[edit] Go West Young Man, Let the Evil Go East

On September 4, 2007, Greeley Estates recorded their new album. The two new members of Greeley Estates include Alex Torres (previously with Eyes Set to Kill) and Joshua Ferguson (previously with Glory Nights)

After the band finished recording their new album Go West Young Man, Let The Evil Go East, Joshua Ferguson left to complete his apprenticeship as a hair stylist in Calgary, Alberta, Canada; personal reasons seem to be why he left.

Greeley Estates had announced Tyler Smith as their new bassist, who was formerly of In Fear and Faith. Smith played his first show with the band on February 9, 2008, at the Clubhouse in Tempe, Arizona.

In 2008 Greeley Estates had a track, entitled "Let The Evil Go East", on the Warped Tour 2008 compilation.

Their third album titled Go West Young Man, Let The Evil Go East was released May 6, 2008. For the track "Blue Morning" on their new album, Greeley Estates hired music video director Daniel Chesnut to create a high energy, intense video, to match the band's new persona.

On Friday, November 14, 2008, Greeley Estates announced that their newest bassist Tyler Smith, found within the course of the same year, had left the band. The blog on their myspace stated:

"Once again, the curse of the Greeley bass players.... has struck again! Eight hours before leaving for the Alesana tour, Telle told us that he would no longer be in Greeley Estates. But don't fret! We will not be missing any shows... we could never do that to you guys/girls! Our tour manager Dave is filling in last minute for us. This means, you all need to come out and sing louder than ever. See you soon!!!!"

Metallica

Metallica (Listeni /məˈtælɪkə/) is an American heavy metal band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1981.
The band was founded when James Hetfield responded to an advertisement that drummer Lars Ulrich had posted in a local newspaper. The current line-up features long-time lead guitarist Kirk Hammett (who joined the band in 1983) and bassist Robert Trujillo (a member since 2003) alongside Hetfield and Ulrich. Notable previous members of the band include former lead guitarist Dave Mustaine (who later went on to found the band Megadeth) and former bassists Ron McGovney, Cliff Burton and Jason Newsted. The band also had a long collaboration with producer Bob Rock, who produced all of the band's albums from 1990 to 2003 and served as a temporary bassist between the departure of Newsted and the hiring of Trujillo.

Metallica's early releases included fast tempos, instrumentals, and aggressive musicianship that placed the band as one of the founding "big four" of thrash metal alongside Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax. The band earned a growing fan-base in the underground music community and critical acclaim, with its third album Master of Puppets (1986) described as one of the most influential and "heavy" thrash metal albums. Metallica achieved substantial commercial success with their eponymous fifth album (also known as The Black Album), which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. With this release the band expanded its musical direction resulting in an album that appealed to a more mainstream audience.

In 2000, Metallica was among a number of artists who filed a lawsuit against Napster for sharing the band's copyright-protected material for free without any band member's consent. A settlement was reached, and Napster became a pay-to-use service. Despite reaching number one on the Billboard 200, the release of St. Anger alienated many fans with the exclusion of guitar solos and the "steel-sounding" snare drum. A film titled Some Kind of Monster documented the recording process of St. Anger and the tensions within the band during that time.
Metallica has released nine studio albums, three live albums, five extended plays, 24 music videos, and 45 singles. The band has won nine Grammy Awards, and has had five consecutive albums debut at number one on the Billboard 200, making Metallica the first band to do so; this record was later matched by the Dave Matthews Band. The band's 1991 album, Metallica, has sold over 15 million copies in the United States, and 22 million copies worldwide, which makes it the 25th-best-selling album in the country.[5] In December 2009, it became the best-selling album of the SoundScan era, surpassing 1997's Come On Over by country artist Shania Twain.[6] The band has sold an estimated 100 million records worldwide as of the release of their latest album, Death Magnetic. As of December 2009, Metallica is the fourth best-selling music artist since the SoundScan era began tracking sales on May 25, 1991, selling a total of 52,672,000 albums in the United States alone.
Metallica was formed in Los Angeles, California, in late 1981 when drummer Lars Ulrich placed an advertisement in a Los Angeles newspaper—The Recycler—which read "Drummer looking for other metal musicians to jam with Tygers of Pan Tang, Diamond Head and Iron Maiden."[8] Guitarists James Hetfield and Hugh Tanner of Leather Charm answered the advertisement. Although he had not formed a band, Ulrich asked Metal Blade Records founder Brian Slagel if he could record a song for the label's upcoming compilation album Metal Massacre. Slagel accepted, and Ulrich recruited Hetfield to sing and play rhythm guitar. The band was officially formed in October 1981, five months after Ulrich and Hetfield first met.[9]

Ulrich talked to his friend Ron Quintana, who was brainstorming names for a fanzine. Quintana had proposed the names MetalMania and Metallica. Ulrich used Metallica for the name of his band. A second advertisement was placed in The Recycler for a position as lead guitarist. Dave Mustaine answered, and after seeing his expensive guitar equipment, Ulrich and Hetfield recruited him. In early 1982, Metallica recorded its first original song "Hit the Lights" for the Metal Massacre I compilation. Hetfield played bass on the song and Lloyd Grant was credited with a guitar solo.Released on June 14, 1982, early pressings of Metal Massacre I listed the band incorrectly as "Mettallica". Although angered by the error, Metallica managed to create enough "buzz" with the song and the band played its first live performance on March 14, 1982 at Radio City in Anaheim, California with newly recruited bassist Ron McGovney.Metallica recorded its first demo, Power Metal, a name inspired by Quintana's early business cards in early 1982. In the fall of 1982, Ulrich and Hetfield attended a show at the West Hollywood nightclub Whisky a Go Go which featured bassist Cliff Burton in a band called Trauma. The two were "blown away" by Burton's use of a wah-wah pedal and asked him to join Metallica. Hetfield and Mustaine wanted McGovney out as they thought that he "didn't contribute anything, he just followed."Although Burton initially declined the offer, by the end of the year he accepted on the condition the band move to El Cerrito in the San Francisco Bay Area. Metallica's first live performance with Burton was at the nightclub The Stone in March 1983, and the first recording to feature Burton was the Megaforce demo (1983).
Metallica was ready to record its debut album, but when Metal Blade was unable to cover the additional cost, the band began looking for other options. Concert promoter Johny "Z" Zazula, who had heard the demo No Life 'til Leather (1982), offered to broker a record deal with Metallica and New York City-based record labels. After receiving no interest from various record labels, Zazula borrowed the money to cover the record's recording budget and signed Metallica to his own label, Megaforce Records.
Kill 'Em All and Ride the Lightning (1983–1984)

In May 1983, Metallica traveled to Rochester, New York to record its debut album, Metal Up Your Ass, with production duties handled by Paul Curcio.Band members decided to kick Mustaine out of the band due to drug and alcohol abuse and violent behavior just prior to the sessions on April 11, 1983.Exodus guitarist Kirk Hammett flew in to replace Mustaine the same afternoon.

Mustaine, who went on to found Megadeth, has expressed his dislike for Hammett in interviews. He said Hammett "stole my job." Mustaine was "pissed off" because he believes Hammett became popular by playing the guitar leads that Mustaine wrote. In a 1985 interview with Metal Forces, Mustaine slammed Hammett saying, "it's real funny how Kirk Hammett ripped off every lead break I'd played on that No Life 'til Leather tape and got voted No. 1 guitarist in your magazine." On Megadeth's debut album Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good! (1985), Mustaine included the song "Mechanix", which Metallica renamed to "The Four Horsemen" on Kill 'Em All. Mustaine said he did this to "straighten Metallica up", as Metallica referred to Mustaine as a drunk and said he could not play guitar. Metallica's first live performance with Hammett was on April 16, 1983 at the nightclub The Showplace in Dover, New Jersey.
The band's debut album was initially to be titled Metal Up Your Ass. Due to conflicts with its record label and the distributors' refusal to release an album with that name, it was renamed Kill 'Em All. Released on Megaforce Records in the United States and Music for Nations in Europe, the album reached number 120 on the Billboard 200 in 1988, and although the album was not initially a financial success, it earned Metallica a growing fan base in the underground metal scene. The band embarked on the Kill 'Em All for One tour with Raven to support the release. In February 1984, Metallica supported Venom on the Seven Dates of Hell tour, where the band performed in front of 7,000 people at the Aardschok Festival in Zwolle, Netherlands.
Metallica recorded its second studio album, Ride the Lightning, at Sweet Silence Studios in Copenhagen, Denmark. Released in August 1984, the album reached number 100 on the Billboard 200. A French printing press mistakenly printed green covers for the album, which are now considered collectors' items. Other songs on the album include "For Whom the Bell Tolls", "Fade to Black", "Creeping Death" (which tells the biblical story of the Hebrews' exodus from slavery in Egypt, focusing on the final plague that was visited on the Egyptians), and the instrumental "The Call of Ktulu". Mustaine received writing credit for "Ride the Lightning" and "The Call of Ktulu.

Saosin

Saosin is an American rock band originally hailing from Newport Beach, California. The band was formed in 2003 and recorded its first EP, Translating the Name, that same year with original singer Anthony Green. Green left Saosin following the band's decision to sign with a commercial label, Capitol Records. Vocalist Cove Reber took over as frontman as the band recorded its self titled debut album. Its second studio album, In Search of Solid Ground was released on September 8, 2009 on Virgin and contains three re-recorded tracks off of The Grey EP. The band parted ways with Reber on July 21, 2010 and currently consists of guitarists Beau Burchell and Justin Shekoski, bassist Chris Sorenson, and drummer Alex Rodriguez. The band is currently preparing for auditions for a new vocalist. Among those auditioning is former Tides of Man frontman Tilian Pearson.
The band has sold 1,362,000 copies worldwide and plans to release a new album or EP later this year.
Anthony Green, the former vocalist, had initially suggested the name "Saosin" for the band. Saosin means "caution" in Chinese (小心 xiao xin). The word comes from a 15th century proverb about fathers admonishing their sons who are being married off for money to not get emotionally involved with their wives, as they could die at any time. Green explained the meaning behind this as being a reference to the fact that nothing is eternal, and that it is a mistake to become overly attached to any one or thing, because that thing will eventually be lost.[7] While Green's personal interpretation of the word 小心 xiao xin is obscure, 小心 xiao xin is generally used in Chinese as a means to express caution. Green had previously used "Saosin" as a track name in his high school band, Audience of One's CD, I Remember When This All Meant Something.

The Sword

The Sword is an American heavy metal band that formed in Austin, Texas in 2003. Since its inception the band has comprised vocalist and guitarist John D. Cronise, guitarist Kyle Shutt and bassist Bryan Richie, and currently includes touring drummer Kevin Fender following Trivett Wingo's departure in November 2010. Signed to New York-based independent label Kemado Records, the group released debut album Age of Winters in 2006, which was largely written by Cronise prior to the band's formation. The band's second album, Gods of the Earth, was released two years later and gave the group its first Billboard 200 chart entry. Warp Riders, a concept album centered on an original science fiction narrative, was released in August 2010.

While commonly labelled as a doom metal band, The Sword has also been identified as an example of the 'retro metal' movement of stoner rock artists influenced by early metal bands such as Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Blue Cheer. In addition to Sabbath, to whom the band is commonly compared, artists such as Sleep, Melvins and Slayer have been cited as influences by members of the band. The Sword are held in
generally high regard by music critics, and have toured on a number of occasions with high-profile bands such as Trivium, Lamb of God and Metallica.
After writing and recording music on his own for "a few years",[1] singer and guitarist J. D. Cronise formed The Sword in 2003 with guitarist Kyle Shutt and drummer Trivett Wingo;[2][3] bassist Bryan Richie joined later in 2004.[4] Cronise and Wingo had been in a band called Ultimate Dragons, based in Richmond, Virginia,[5] while Shutt and Richie had been performing in Texas bands "united by a love of [Led] Zeppelin."[6] Cronise had also performed with a local band called Those Peabodys, but left as he felt he "needed to do something heavier."[5] After their first live performance together on March 18, 2004,[7] the band released an eponymous demo, The Sword,[8] which was followed the next year by an extended play (EP) entitled Freya.[8] After performing at the 2005 South by Southwest festival, the band was signed by New York-based record label Kemado Records;[2] competing offers from Tee Pee, Arclight and Relapse were turned down.[6]

The Sword released its debut album Age of Winters in February 2006, much of the material for which had been written by Cronise before the band's formation.[1] In support of the album, the band toured in 2006 and 2007 with such artists as, in the United States, Early Man, Priestess, Lacuna Coil and Trivium; in Europe, Nebula and Clutch; and in Japan, Lamb of God.[9] In June 2007 they contributed a new song, "Under the Boughs" (which was later included on their second album), to the Kemado compilation Invaders,[10] and in November the song "Freya" was covered and featured as a playable track on the video game Guitar Hero II.[11] "Freya" was later released as a single in September 2007.

The Strokes

The Strokes are an American rock band formed in 1998 in New York City. The band consists of Julian Casablancas (lead vocals), Nick Valensi (guitar), Albert Hammond, Jr. (guitar), Nikolai Fraiture (bass guitar) and Fabrizio Moretti (drums and percussion). The Strokes have been named one of the most prominent and influential rock bands to emerge in the 21st century.

Upon the release of their debut album Is This It in 2001, the group met much critical acclaim.[2] Since then, the band has maintained a large fan base, mostly in the UK, US, Canada and Australia. A number of members have embarked on a variety of side projects, although a fourth album, entitled Angles, was released on March 22, 2011.
Lead singer-songwriter Julian Casablancas, guitarist Nick Valensi, and drummer Fab Moretti started playing together while attending Dwight School in Manhattan. Bassist Nikolai Fraiture had been friends with Casablancas and was attending the Lycée Français de New York. At age 13, Casablancas was sent to Le Rosey, a boarding school in Switzerland to improve his academic performance. In Switzerland, Casablancas met guitarist Albert Hammond, Jr.

Later, when Hammond came to New York to attend New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, he shared an apartment with Casablancas. They started a band which first performed at Luna Lounge on the Lower East Side of New York, and at Manhattan's popular Mercury Lounge. Ryan Gentles, the Mercury Lounge's booker, quit his job to become the band's manager.

The band began rehearsing a fourteen song set which included "Last Nite", "The Modern Age", "This Life" (an early version of "Trying Your Luck"), "New York City Cops", "Soma" and "Someday". Most of these songs now feature different lyrics. A demo sent to the newly reformed Rough Trade Records in the UK sparked interest there, leading to their first release via the website of the UK magazine NME who gave away a free mp3 download of "Last Nite" a week prior to the physical release as part of The Modern Age EP in 2001. The EP sparked a bidding war among record labels; the largest for a rock and roll band in years.

Confide was an American metalcore band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 2004. They released two EPs and three full-length albums. Because the band was on a secular label they were not marketed in the "Christian" market, but their faith plays a big role in their personal lives as well as their music. The band confirmed that they will be disbanding after completing their tour of Japan tour. They plan to play a farewell show on the West Coast upon returning from their tour of Japan.Confide was originally started in August 2004 by Aaron Van Zutphen, Jason Pickard and Josh Plesh as a deathcore act. They went looking for members in their youth group. Josh knew Billy, Jason and Aaron knew Jeffrey, that's how they got their first real line-up. In this period of time, they released two EPs, "Innocence Surround" and "Introduction".

In the end of 2006, former vocalist Josh left the band, and was replaced by current frontman Ross Michael Kenyon, putting his other band Penknifelovelife on hiatus.[1] Ross moved to the United States to be with his girlfriend and went looking on the internet for bands who needed a singer. After some chatting with Jeffrey, he moved to his house and they started practicing. This line-up change also made the band shift into a purist metalcore sound. But in January 2007 Ross had to move back to Europe and started playing with penknifelovelife again, putting another band on hiatus: Confide. After one tour with And Their Eyes Were Bloodshot in Europe he stated on his bands MySpace he was leaving for Confide again. penknifelovelife split up and Confide started writing for Shout the Truth.

The Used

The Used is an American rock band from Orem, Utah. The band was founded in 2001 and signed to Reprise Records the same year. They rose to fame in June 2002 after releasing their self-titled debut album. They followed up with their second album, In Love and Death, in September 2004 and their third album, Lies for the Liars, in May 2007. An EP, Shallow Believer, was released in February 2008 that featured most of the band's B-sides to date. They spent the entire year of 2008 working on their fourth studio album, which was released on August 31, 2009, called Artwork.[1] The band has achieved both Gold and Platinum statuses in more than six countries worldwide and has sold over 3 million records worldwide. The Used was founded in January 2001 with the recruitment of members that were a part of several other bands throughout the 1990s.[3] Founding members Branden Steineckert, Quinn Allman and Jeph Howard engaged into the plan of starting the band and had music already prepared, but did not have lyrics and required a vocalist. Auditions for singers were held at Jeph Howard's residence.[4] Upon observations, the band was not satisfied with any of the results that the vocalists displayed and described the auditions as "terrible". Although, when Allman confronted Bert McCracken, he asked if he was interested in joining the band. Upon McCracken's meeting of the other band members, he was impressed with the material they created. After being given music that the band had written, McCracken wrote the lyrics to what would become "Maybe Memories" and returned the next day to record a demo version of the song. McCracken was then officially confirmed as being the band's vocalist. Throughout all of this, the band members suffered from poverty, homelessness, and substance abuse. They even panhandled for change in order to buy food to stay alive.[5] The members decided on their band name as being "Used" when their friends claimed they felt "used" when contact was lost between them and band members due to them becoming more involved in the band.[3][6]

The Used continued to write songs together and recorded a demo album in drummer Branden Steineckert's bedroom titled Demos from the Basement. Steineckert sent their songs to producer John Feldmann from the ska group, Goldfinger. After he heard the song "A Box Full of Sharp Objects", he gained an interest into having the band signed to a label. Feldmann flew the band to Los Angeles taking them out of their home state for the first time in their lives and played the songs for various record executives to try to get them signed, however, the first few weren't interested and it left John discouraged. Eventually, many copies of the demo were received by many record label representatives who found an interest into signing them. With many labels at The Used's choice, they decided to sign to Reprise Records in late 2001.

Switchfoot is an American rock band from San Diego, California. The band's members are Jon Foreman (lead vocals, guitar), Tim Foreman (bass guitar, backing vocals), Chad Butler (drums, percussion), Jerome Fontamillas (guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), and Drew Shirley (guitar, backing vocals).
They are known for their energetic live shows, where the three guitarists in the line-up often operate simultaneously.
After early successes in the Christian rock scene, Switchfoot first gained mainstream recognition with the inclusion of four of their songs in the 2002 movie A Walk to Remember. This recognition led to their major label debut, The Beautiful Letdown, which was released in 2003. It went on to sell over 2.6 million copies and produced the band's best-known singles, "Meant to Live" and "Dare You to Move." Their seventh studio album Hello Hurricane received a Grammy award in 2011 for Best Rock Gospel Album.
Switchfoot was founded in 1996 as Chin Up, consisting of Jon Foreman and his brother Tim, along with Chad Butler on drums. After playing only a few shows, the band was contacted by music industry veteran Charlie Peacock and eventually signed to his indie label Re:think Records under the current moniker, Switchfoot. Re:think went on to distribute the first three Switchfoot albums, The Legend of Chin, New Way to Be Human, and Learning to Breathe. Because Re:think was bought out by Christian giant Sparrow Records before Switchfoot's first release, however, the band's and Peacock's intentions of being marketed outside of the Contemporary Christian music scene and reaching a wider audience were put on hold. Consequently, the band was mostly marketed exclusively to Christian radio and retail outlets early in their careers, a time Jon Foreman has described as when "half of who we were was lost."[10]

Of Switchfoot's first three albums, Learning to Breathe was the most successful, being certified gold by the RIAA, and receiving a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Gospel Album.

Later on in 2002, Switchfoot's music was featured prominently in the movie A Walk to Remember, starring singer and actress Mandy Moore, who sang Switchfoot's song "Only Hope" during a scene in the movie. In addition to Moore's cover of "Only Hope",[11] Switchfoot’s songs “You”, “Learning to Breathe”, and “Dare You to Move” were showcased in the film, as well as their own original version of "Only Hope" towards the end of the film.
According to Jon Foreman, the name "Switchfoot" is a surfing term. "We all love to surf and have been surfing all our lives so to us, the name made sense. To switch your feet means to take a new stance facing the opposite direction. It's about change and movement, a different way of approaching life and music."

Secondhand Serenade

Secondhand Serenade is an American acoustic rock band, led by vocalist and guitarist John Vesely. Vesely has released three studio albums to date under the name Secondhand Serenade: Awake in 2007, A Twist in My Story in 2008 and Hear Me Now in 2010. The debut album used multitrack recording to create the sound of a band using technology,[1] while the second album took a different path, using a proper band and synthesizers to establish a more accomplished sound.John Vesely formed Secondhand Serenade in his home town of Menlo Park in California, USA, in 2004. Vesely was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area in a musical family and as the son of a professional jazz musician father, commenting that "getting into music was a natural thing" for him. He spent 8 years playing bass in local bands, featuring in a number of acts ranging in style from ska and hardcore to rock and pop.[3]  One of the bands he played in, Sounds Like Life,[4]  included fellow Bay Area artist Ronnie Day. After years of playing bass, he opted for an acoustic guitar. Vesely follows in the tradition of John Ondrasik's Five for Fighting. Vesely was also the son of a Czech immigrant.[5]

Vesely began writing his own songs when he met his wife Candice Vesely. She had wanted him to play a song and "serenading her with a bass guitar was out of the question." He has admitted he found his "true calling" when he picked up the guitar.[3] The pseudonym Secondhand Serenade is a reference to the way in which his songs were 'serenades' sung to his wife Candice, with whom he has two young sons. People around the world are merely getting to hear the songs 'second-hand.'[3] While Vesely continues to market the affectionate biography, the couple broke up in 2008. Vesely was heart broken as can be seen in many of his songs. He released "A Twist In My Story" as a reference to the divorce.[6][7]

In 2005, Vesely released his debut album titled Awake. It was recorded as a demo, after booking a few days at an San Frincisco studio earlier in 2005, "using just an acoustic guitar and his multi-tracked vocals."[8] The album was promoted through the Secondhand Serenade Myspace page and by playing local shows. The CDs were originally sold through mail order with a PayPal account by Vesely, eventually he signed up with distributor TuneCore, making Secondhand Serenade's songs available on music portals including iTunes.[9] The album experienced tremendous online support, and by the end of 2006 Secondhand Serenade had received millions of plays on Myspace and had been the social-networking site's No. 1 Independent Artist for months. Financially, he was said to be bringing in up to $20,000 a month from downloads and merchandise sales out of his home.[8] He sold over 15,000 copies of the album on his own,[10] and on the strength of these sales and the support, naturally, the labels came knocking. Secondhand Serenade was signed by longtime label executive Daniel Glass, on his new label Glassnote Records, which is distributed through Warner's Independent Label Group.[9] In 2006, Rolling Stone announced Secondhand Serenade as #3 in the magazine's reader's poll for Best Myspace Artist.

The All-American Rejects

The All-American Rejects are an American rock band formed in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1999.[5] The band consists of lead vocalist and bass guitarist Tyson Ritter, lead guitarist, Nick Wheeler, rhythm guitarist Mike Kennerty, and drummer Chris Gaylor.

The band achieved mainstream success with their debut self-titled studio album, The All-American Rejects, released in 2003. The album was certified platinum by the RIAA and spawned the hit single "Swing, Swing".[6] The band's second album, Move Along (2005), brought the band more mainstream success. The album produced three hit singles; "It Ends Tonight", "Dirty Little Secret" and "Move Along", all of which charted in the top fifteen on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.[7] Both "Move Along" and "Dirty Little Secret" sold over two million digital downloads in the United States. The album itself was certified double platinum by the RIAA.[6] The All-American Rejects' third album, When the World Comes Down, was released on December 16, 2008. The album was certified gold by the RIAA.[6] The first single, "Gives You Hell", became the band's first song to be successful internationally: it peaked at number-four on the Hot 100 chart, number-three on the Australian ARIA Singles chart and charted in the top twenty of the UK Singles Chart.[7][8][9]

Since the start of their career, The All-American Rejects have sold over 10 million albums world wide.[10][11] The All-American Rejects were ranked #73 on the "Hot 100 Artists of the 2000s"[12] and #183 on Billboard magazine's "Billboard 200 Artists of the Decade" list.
The band formed in Stillwater, Oklahoma, in 1999 while members Tyson Ritter and Nick Wheeler were still in high school. The two originally met in 1997 at a club where an early band of Wheeler's was performing. It was here that Ritter offered himself for bass duties. Eventually Ritter and Wheeler decided to form The All-American Rejects.[5]  The name has two different theories on how it was made, one being a mix of two suggestions, "The Rejects" and "The All Americans". The other theory is that they were inspire by the Green Day song "Reject".

In 2000, still in high school, the band made a demo simply labeled The All-American Rejects, with Jesse Tabish as vocalist/guitarist, Tyson Ritter as vocalist/bassist and Nick Wheeler on drums. The demo CD was engineered, mixed and mastered by Wheeler, and was recorded/mastered at Oops! I Crapped My Pants studio in Stillwater. It was also managed by Half-A-Cup Entertainment. The demo is now commonly referred to as The Blue Disc or The Blue Album. The CD consisted of twelve songs, a few of which would be included on the Same Girl, New Songs demo made in 2001. Jesse Tabish later split from the group. Ritter and Wheeler put together the Same Girl, New Songs EP, which was soon sent to independent Doghouse Records, where an intern saved the disc from the trash, and revealed it to the label owner. The All-American Rejects were soon signed to a recording contract.[14]

In 2001, with producer Tim O'Hier, they recorded their self-titled debut album, The All-American Rejects. The album and its first single, "Swing, Swing", were released towards the end of 2002. The band began looking for additional members for a live act.[15] Edmond, Oklahoma resident Mike Kennerty joined on as rhythm guitarist soon before the album was released. Soon after, the band was having problems with drummer Tim Campbell. Campbell was later replaced by drummer Chris Gaylor, who knew and played in another band with Kennerty.[16]

The band was then signed by DreamWorks Records. The band hit the road for eight shows in January, and DreamWorks issued a broader-scale distribution of the debut LP. The album peaked at #25 on the Billboard 200. The single "Swing, Swing" was also re-issued, which peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 at #60 as well as #8 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart.[17][18][19] The single "The Last Song" was also released spring 2003, and climbed to #29 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart.[19]

In Spring 2003, The All-American Rejects set out on their first headlining tour, called the Too Bad For Hell Tour. In later 2003, The All-American Rejects released, Live from Oklahoma... The Too Bad for Hell DVD!, their first live DVD – which was later certified Gold by the RIAA. During this time, they performed on the Vans Warped Tour. They would later be part of the lineup again in summer 2005. In November, The All-American Rejects joined the band Motion City Soundtrack for six shows in the United Kingdom, the first date on the 16th, and the last on the 22nd.

We Are the Ocean

We Are the Ocean is a 5 piece post-hardcore band from Harlow, Essex, England. The band has played hundreds of shows since their formation, including several festivals during 2008 such as Slam Dunk, Offset Festival, Middlesbrough Music Live, and Taste of Chaos. They have supported bands such as You Me at Six, The Used, The Blackout, Fightstar, Funeral for a Friend, Underoath, Lostprophets and My American Heart, as well as playing alongside Kids in Glass Houses, From First to Last, The Medic Droid, Brigade, Saving Aimee, Tonight Is Goodbye and Furthest Drive Home. They embarked on a 24 day show headline tour in January and February 2009, selling out most venues.
The band was originally known as "Dead But Still Dreaming" with Dan Brown, Jack Spence and three others. After a while the band broke apart, but Dan and Jack carried on searching for new members during this time. They had formed a full line-up again by 2007 with Liam Cromby, Rickie Bloom and Tom Whittaker, and still under the original name of Dead But Still Dreaming. After a while, Rickie left the band and was replaced by Alfie Scully. Shortly after the creation of this solid band line-up, the band decided on a new start with the name We Are The Ocean.

The band quickly shot to prominence thanks mainly to MySpace and were nominated for Kerrang! Best British Newcomer and voted K! Readers Poll 2nd best unsigned UK band. They released their debut EP entitled We Are the Ocean in 2008, selling 1000 limited edition copies in 1 day.

I See Stars

I See Stars is an American rock band formed in 2006 from Warren, Michigan. They have released two full length albums. Their debut album, 3-D, featured a guest appearance from Bizzy Bone of Bone Thugs-n-Harmony.[1] The album peaked at #176 on the Billboard 200. Their second album, The End of the World Party, was released on February 22, 2011.

The band covered the song "Your Love" by The Outfield for Fearless Records' compilation album Punk Goes Classic Rock.

The song "Comfortably Confused", off their album 3-D, was featured on the music video game Power Gig: Rise of the SixString. In an interview with BVTV,[3] featuring band members Devin Oliver and Brent Allen, Oliver stated: "me, Brent, the drummer's my brother, and the bass player, Jeff, we all lived on the block from each other since we were kids, [in] elementary school." In the same interview, it is also stated that there is no specific reason for the band's name, I See Stars, other than the fact they needed a title and "someone brought it to the table". The band was officially formed in 2006.

The group released its debut EP Green Light Go! in 2007 and several demos, including a self-titled EP, before signing with Sumerian Records in 2008.

Emarosa

Emarosa ( /ɛməroʊsə/ em-ə-roh-sə) is an American rock band from Lexington, Kentucky. Formed in 2006, they released one EP in 2007 titled This Is Your Way Out, and shortly after, the group underwent significant lineup and sound changes, dropping their heavy metal influence and leaning toward a soul inspiration.[1][2] The band went on to release Relativity, which features their newest vocalist Jonny Craig and new guitarist Jonas Ladekjaer. Their eponymous second album was released on June 29, 2010 meeting their highest critical acclaim yet.
Emarosa began with keyboardist Jordan Stewart, drummer Lukas Koszewski and guitarist E.R. White having the decision of either attending college, or staying in their hometown of Lexington, Kentucky to start a new band. Stewart stated that "There's too much of an itch to do this," regarding the band he helped start in February 2006.[3] The band origins date back to early high school, which was said by keyboardist Jordan Stewart on Indiestar.tv. Stewart states some of the members had been playing in high school before "taking it serious," referring to four of the original members on the current lineup (ER White, Will Sowers, Lukas Koszweski, Jordan Stewart).[4] Emarosa initially formed as a five piece post-hardcore band called Corsets Are Cages in 2006, and recorded three songs during this time (most notably "Utah, But I’m Taller"), however when the band lost two members and gained two new ones (including another vocalist, Chris Roetter) it was decided that it was time to start afresh with a new name: Emarosa. The band was signed to StandBy Records to record their 7 track EP This Is Your Way Out. It was released on May 1, 2007, by StandBy Records through Thriving Records because StandBy had no distribution at the time.

On November 2007, lead singer Jonny Craig from Dance Gavin Dance, was released for the final time with the band due to extreme tension and personal conflicts with the other members.[5] After leaving Dance Gavin Dance after the "Saints and Sinners Festival" in New Jersey, Jonny Craig immediately filled in for A Skylit Drive and toured with them while their then lead singer Jordan was ill during their tour. It had been only 2 weeks since he left Dance Gavin Dance in which he joined Emarosa who were left without a lead singer. Emarosa officially announced the permanent addition of Jonny Craig on November 19, 2007.[6]

Jordan Stewart (keyboardist) and Lukas Koszewski (drummer) were interviewed in which they referred to the problems regarding Jonny Craig and the transitions: "In the beginning it was pretty intense. We would receive rather nasty comments and messages on Myspace asking what happened to Chris and why Jonny was no longer with Dance Gavin Dance. Sometimes when we play, kids will think it is funny to throw in remarks about the change and how they liked the old stuff better. The time between us realizing Chris wasn't working out to the time Jonny joined was extremely short. But even with Chris in the band, it was already decided that our full-length wouldn't have as much screaming. We just kept writing the way we had been before parting ways with Chris." [7]
[edit] Relativity (2008–2009)

On January 26, 2008, Emarosa posted their first official song with Jonny Craig titled, "New Demo" (now known to be "Set It Off Like Napalm"). Two weeks later, the demo of ""Pretend. Release. The Close."" was put on their player. On May 3, 2008, three new post-production songs were added to the MySpace player and the name of the album, Relativity, was revealed. The album was released on July 8, 2008, and received high praise from critics and fans alike.

In Emarosa's latest and first video interview with Indiestar, Craig stated that "Set It Off Like Napalm" and "Pretend Release the Close" were "about the life [Craig] was having, [his departure from] Dance Gavin Dance, and how much better [he] was feeling about being in this band [Emarosa]." They were written in one practice session and played live 2 days later. He also said that "Even Bad Men Love Their Mothers" was co-sang by his mother. Boyz II Men was also said to be one of Jonny Craig's main musical influences. Craig states that most of the instrumentals were already completed prior to joining Emarosa, in which Jordan Stewart (keyboardist) says five were completed, to be exact. Jerry Roush, formerly of Sky Eats Airplane and Of Mice & Men, makes an appearance stating he's the new screamer for Emarosa but is joking the entire interview.[8]

Emarosa has been touring for the past 2 years with such bands as; Fiora, Akissforjersey, Before Their Eyes, and The Wedding. Emarosa toured with A Skylit Drive, Sky Eats Airplane, and Breathe Carolina the entire month of July. They began another tour in Canada with Canadian headliners Dead and Divine for the month of August and played with Chiodos on August 30, 2008 as a special event in their hometown of Lexington, Kentucky. Emarosa was the headline for the "Rise Records Tour" the entire month of September and first week of October, with support from In Fear and Faith and Attack Attack!. They held their headlining, "The Delicious Tour" alongside Pierce the Veil and Breathe Carolina. Emarosa toured the UK alongside You Me at Six and The Spill Canvas from March 6 until March 13, 2009.[9] A Day to Remember announced their latest US Tour (The Sweet Brag Tour) which included Emarosa along with metalcore bands The Devil Wears Prada and Sky Eats Airplane. The tour stretched from March 14 until May 1, 2009. June 19 - August 1, 2009, Emarosa headlined The Artery Foundation Across the Nation Tour supported by I See Stars, Our Last Night, In Fear and Faith, Burden of a Day, and Broadway.

Never Shout Never

Christofer Drew Ingle (born February 11, 1991), better known by his stage name Never Shout Never,[3] is an American acoustic pop musician.Ingle began making music as NeverShoutNever! in September 2007. His first exposure came through the internet, where he achieved success on MySpace before issuing The Yippee EP on July 29, 2008.[8] On July 30, 2008, he was featured on TRL, where he performed his single "Bigcitydreams."[9] He toured with Hellogoodbye and Ace Enders in the fall of 2008.[10]

As of November 17, 2008, the official spelling of Ingle's alias became NeverShoutNever! It had previously been listed as Never Shout Never on iTunes and his management company's site.[11] An official statement regarding the reason behind the spelling change has not been made available. In an interview, Ingle revealed that there is no longer an exclamation point after his name and that he will spell NeverShoutNever as one word when he is feeling happy, but three words when he isn't.[12] Warner Bros. Records is spelling his name as "Never Shout Never" for the upcoming release.

Never Shout Never started touring with The Scene Aesthetic, The Honorary Title, and The Bigger Lights in late February 2009[13] and then toured with bands such as Forever the Sickest Kids, The Cab, We The Kings, and Mercy Mercedes, among others in spring 2009 as part of The Bamboozle Roadshow 2009.[14] He played at both The Bamboozle Left 2009[15] and The Bamboozle 2009.[16]

The Summer EP was released on June 23, 2009.[17] The first single off the EP, titled "Happy," was released on iTunes on March 3, 2009.[18]

It was announced on May 29, 2009, that Ingle had signed to Warner Bros. Records, ending a major-label bidding war.[2] As part of the deal, Ingle will run and make releases on his own imprint label, Loveway Records.[19]

The debut mini-album from Never Shout Never, What Is Love?, was produced by Butch Walker.[4][20]

In October 2010, Christofer announced in an interview with Phoenix New Times that he would like to drop the name 'Never Shout Never' and become 'Christofer Drew and the Shout' because he is "sick of this band and the negative connotations with the band." He is also planning to switch from acoustic to more "feel-good rock-n-roll" music.[21]

In November 2010, Never Shout Never and The Maine did a concert tour, where they had fans gather can foods to help those in need. As a 'Thank you' gift, Never Shout Never and The Maine released a 'Split' Ep titled 'Split - Ep.' As of December 21, 2010, the 'Split - Ep' has been available for free on the Never Shout Never website and continues, to be free, today.

Ingle follows a strict vegan diet.[22] His music career caused him to drop out of his high school, Joplin Senior High, before graduation.

Asking Alexandria

Asking Alexandria are an English metalcore band from York, North Yorkshire. Founded in 2008 when Ben Bruce (lead guitar) contacted his old companions upon returning to England after residing in Dubai. The current line-up of the group consists of Ben Bruce, Danny Worsnop (vocals), Cameron Liddell (rhythm guitar), Sam Bettley (bass guitar) and James Cassells (drums).
Asking Alexandria have their roots in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, wherein guitarist Ben Bruce started a band and released one full-length album (titled The Irony of Your Perfection) with the group under the name Asking Alexandria. The band shortly afterwards broke-up and Bruce made a statement that at later date that the band known as Asking Alexandria from Dubai only had the name for about a month before leading to their disbandment, hence the band never embarked on a tour.

In 2008, Bruce moved back to England, leaving behind his former bandmates. However, Bruce had no plans on putting his musical career on hold and not long after the move he started fresh with new members, though deciding to carry on the name Asking Alexandria. Bruce has stated that he was the one that created this title, that he still liked it and the meaning/reason behind the name still remained, and therefore decided to continue it in the new project.[1] He also made an emphasised statement in the same blog post that the current Asking Alexandria is not the same band that wrote The Irony of Your Perfection, in style nor members,[1] hence they are two different bands, despite their links. The same statement has been emphasised in interviews and is known to still be a confusion to many fans.

Asking Alexandria, since their formation in 2008, has had some member changes, including going from a six-piece to a five-piece, with the departure of synthesist Ryan Binns.[2] The last known change was bassist Sam Bettley, who replaced Joe Lancaster in January 2009.[3] Lancaster played his final show at Fibbers in their hometown York on 4 January.[4] The band left for the United States the day after the show to promote their music through shows, as well as to prepare for the recording of their debut album.

After spending 2008 and the first months of 2009 touring, the band recorded their debut studio album between 19 May and 16 June 2009 at The Foundation Recording Studios in Connersville, Indiana, United States with producer Joey Sturgis.[5] They announced their signing with Sumerian Records shortly after finishing the recording and released their debut album, Stand Up and Scream, on 15 September 2009 through their new label. The band spent 2009 focusing on gaining success in the United States, touring with well known bands such as Alesana, Enter Shikari, The Bled and Evergreen Terrace, amongst others.

Metro Station

Metro Station was an American pop rock band formed in Los Angeles, California. In late 2006, the band signed a recording contract with Columbia/Red Ink.[5] They were best known for their Top 10 Billboard hit single "Shake It"[6] from their self-titled debut album. The group officially disbanded on March 23, 2010.
In 2006, Mason Musso and Trace Cyrus agreed to meet on the set of Hannah Montana, which stars Mason's brother, Mitchel, and Trace's sister, Miley. Sharing musical interests, they decided to form a band.[5] Shortly thereafter, Cyrus recruited Blake Healy from Synthetic Joy as a keyboardist, synthesist, and bassist. Cyrus remained the singer and the lead guitarist. Musso became the group's main singer and rhythm guitarist.

Metro Station soon gained the attention of drummer Anthony Improgo, who was added as the band's drummer after the group released the song "Seventeen Forever" on their MySpace Music website. Musso sang lead on the track, as did a previously unknown member of the band named Dmitry, who quit the band soon thereafter. The group's popularity on MySpace Music grew, and the band eventually topped the MySpace Music Unsigned Band's charts.[citation needed]

Metro Station was discovered by Jason Aron who at the time was an intern working for Columbia Records' Walking Eye program, while looking through the MySpace Music charts, and the group was signed shortly thereafter.[8]

In the July 2007 issue of music magazine Alternative Press, Metro Station was listed as one of the "22 Best Underground Bands (That Likely Won't Stay Underground for Long)."[9]

Metro Station released their self-titled debut studio album in September 2007. The album had two singles released, "Kelsey" and "Control". Although both singles failed to make the charts, with higher sales of the album both became more popular. It wasn't until mid-2008, after the release of the single "Shake It," that the band received a significant amount of commercial exposure, and the song peaked in the top-ten of three US charts. The song peaked at #3 on Hot Digital Songs, #9 in the Pop 100, #10 in the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at #20 in the Hot Dance Airplay chart.[6] The success of the song also affected album sales, the album charting nine months later in 2008 at #43 in the Billboard 200, #1 Top Electronic Albums and #2 in the Top Heatseekers.[10]

In 2009 Metro Station toured in the Believers Never Die Part Deux Tour which with Hey Monday, All Time Low, Cobra Starship and Fall Out Boy.

The band also contributed a song to the Alice In Wonderland soundtrack Almost Alice titled "Where's My Angel".

A Day To Remember

A Day to Remember is an American rock band from Ocala, Florida. Founded in 2003 by guitarist, Tom Denny, and drummer, Bobby Scruggs, the band has released four studio albums, nine singles and eight music videos. They are mainly known for their unusual amalgamation of metalcore and pop punk as a musical style.
After all playing in different groups in the Ocala music scene, singer Jeremy McKinnon, guitarists Neil Westfall and Tom Denney, bassist Joshua Woodard, and drummer Bobby Scruggs came together in 2003. Soon after, the band embarked on a "DIY" tour, playing well over 200 shows, making a name for themselves. They were signed to Indianola Records, from which they recorded their debut full-length debut album, titled And Their Name Was Treason in May 2005. The album sold 8,690 copies but the band felt that bigger and better things were to come. "A friend of mine said he had the AIM screenname of someone at Victory Records,” Woodard said. "I didn’t believe him, but I still started communicating with the guy. We IM’ed back and forth for about six months, and it happened that we were playing with the band On the Last Day in a town outside of Chicago—and this guy was going to be there filming it. It was our first time we ever played in Illinois, yet the 50-60 kids there were singing along to our tunes like they’d been fans all their lives."

Silverstein

Silverstein is a Canadian post-hardcore band from Burlington, Ontario, formed in 2000. Their band name is a reference to the famous children's author Shel Silverstein, whom the band had admired and read the stories of as children.[1] They have released a total of five studio albums, three EP's, a compilation album and a live DVD/CD. Their lineup has remained unchanged since December of 2001, consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Shane Told, guitarists Neil Boshart and Josh Bradford, bass guitarist and backing vocalist Billy Hamilton, and drummer Paul Koehler. The band achieved moderate success with their second studio album, Discovering The Waterfront, reaching #34 on the Billboard 200 charts, with the following two albums charting at similar positions.[2]

The band left long time record label, Victory Records in 2010, and are currently signed with Hopeless Records and Universal Music.[3][4] They released their new studio album titled Rescue, in April 2011. An EP titled Transitions was released on December 7 as precursor, with two songs taken from the upcoming full length album.Silverstein formed in January 2000.[7]  During that same year, they self-released their first EP, Summer's Stellar Gaze.[7]  After several lineup changes, the band acquired Billy Hamilton, a local fan who learned of the band's need for a bassist on the Internet  message board "The 905 Board" (an Ontario area outreach board which used to be for local musicians). In December 2001, he joined the band after Told helped him learn the music for the songs. Following a rehearsal on Boxing Day (December 26) in 2000, he officially debuted with Silverstein. The next spring, original guitarist Richard McWalter left the band to move to Victoria, British Columbia to study engineering. He was then replaced by Neil Boshart, childhood friend of Shane Told. The new lineup recorded a second EP, When the Shadows Beam, in preparation for their first tour in Eastern Canada. The band signed to Victory Records in October 2002 with a complete lineup as Hamilton attempted to complete his secondary education one semester early.

The Ready Set

Jordan Mark Witzigreuter (born November 14, 1989), better known by his stage name The Ready Set is an American musician. The Ready Set was formed on November 17, 2007. Jordan Witzigreuter is the vocalist and usually thought of as the only member in The Ready Set; he has stated that he adopted the name because he figured his last name would be too difficult for most people to pronounce. Jordan was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on November 14, 1989. He has one brother, Jason Witzigreuter a high school band director, and one sister, Mandy Witzigreuter-Venturini. He resides in Fort Wayne when he is not on tour or recording in LA.

Jordan started playing the drums at age 11. When he first started writing his lyrics, Jordan was part of an acoustic duo, Brideandgroom. However the other member, Victor Alvarado, decided to pursue the culinary arts in Chicago, before eventually moving west to San Francisco where he now works at Hapa Ramen, and that eventually led to the formation of The Ready Set.[1]

Before forming The Ready Set, Witzigreuter played drums in several bands. One being a hardcore-ska band, Take Sides, and the other being the hardcore band Saints Never Surrender, who he spent a summer on tour with.[2] He was also a vocalist in the band Brideandgroom. Jordan writes and records his own music and he uses a backup band while on tour. Before he was signed to Pete Wentz's record label, he would record in his parents' basement in Fort Wayne. The project began to gain popularity online and on the tours in which Jordan participated, and he soon had an extensive fanbase.[3]

Pete Wentz, known for his work with rock band Fall Out Boy, signed The Ready Set to his label Decaydance Records on November 24, 2009.[4][5] Wentz then helped Jordan release his first studio album, called I'm Alive, I'm Dreaming.

Witzigreuter's work has been gaining in popularity due to his exposure from Wentz and various appearances on MTV. Jordan has been featured as the MTV "Push" artist of the week and "Posted" artist of the month, he was one of the acts on the "MTV VMA Tour," he has appeared on MTV's "Ten on Top" three times, and he recently Tweeted that he was filming an episode of the MTV show "Silent Library". It is set to be released that it will premiere March 31, 2011. He also played his new single "Young Forever" on radionow1009 in Indiana, then again on the first night of the Glamour Kills Tour.a

Brand New

Brand New is an American rock band from Long Island, New York.[1] Formed in 2000, the band currently consists of vocalist/guitarist/lyricist Jesse Lacey, guitarist/vocalist/lyricist Vincent Accardi, bassist Garrett Tierney, drummer Brian Lane, and guitarist/keyboardist Derrick Sherman.[2]

In the late 1990s, Jesse Lacey, Garrett Tierney, and Brian Lane were all members of the band The Rookie Lot. They eventually split off from the other members of the group, and in 2000 formed Brand New in Merrick, New York.[2] The band signed to Triple Crown Records and in 2001 released their debut studio album, Your Favorite Weapon. Their second album, Deja Entendu, was released in 2003 and marked a stylistic change for the band.[3] The album's first two singles, "The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows" and "Sic Transit Gloria... Glory Fades", both received airplay on MTV2 and Fuse TV, entering the top 40 on the United Kingdom Singles Chart. Deja Entendu was eventually certified gold in the United States.

Brand New moved to Interscope Records and released The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me in 2006. "Jesus Christ" became their highest charting single in the US, peaking at number 30 on the Alternative Songs chart. In March 2008, the band started their own record label, named Procrastinate! Music Traitors. Their fourth album, Daisy, was released in 2009 and became their highest charting album in the US, reaching number six on the Billboard 200.

Prior to Brand New's official formation, in the late 1990s Jesse Lacey, Garrett Tierney, Brian Lane were all members of the post-hardcore band The Rookie Lot, along with Brandon Reilly and Alex Dunne of Crime in Stereo.[4] After the band's split and not playing together for a while, Lacey, Lane and Tierney started to rehearse again. They then recruited guitarist Vincent Accardi, who had been playing in a band called One Last Goodbye, since Reilly had joined The Movielife.[2][4]

All four members had backgrounds linking into their local Long Island independent and hardcore music scenes, but with influences from an array of artists ranging from Buddy Rich to the Archers of Loaf. They eventually formed Brand New in 2000, in a basement in Merrick, New York. Their initial intention was always to "move outside of whatever notions they felt inclined to when they were making music as younger people."[2] The band gained exposure in the local scene through playing shows with alternative rock contemporaries Midtown and post-hardcore bands like Glassjaw, whilst also self-releasing a four-song demo.[5][4] They signed to Triple Crown Records just after their second-ever show.
